The day my laffytaffy died…

I am close to resign that I am finally going to say goodbye to one of the gadgets closest to my heart, my 15-month old Compaq cq40-107AU laptop.
It was strongly against my will to have my laptop serve our current business. I felt it will be difficult for him to be the server of the internet shop. But due to my husband’s persistence to maximize the only 8 desktops we have, I have nothing to argue about since my laptop will be left alone in the house as well.
And so, after almost a month of operation, it started to manifest weird behavior. System is shutting down, not connecting to the internet, and unbearable slowness. Until yesterday, it won’t boot anymore. My husband checked the LCD using an external monitor and it miraculously booted up. Worked well for the entire day, though I kept on telling my husband to give the laptop a rest, He didn’t agreed. I felt sorry for laffytaffy.
And so when the shop already closed, he shut down the laptop and went home. When we tried to turn the laptop on at home, it didn’t. Failed at post. Did a couple of power cycling and RAM reseating, but no luck.
I want to blame people for not listening to me. But I also want to think that I am just one of the few unlucky people to have bought a defective laptop, but I somehow think my laptop has been pushed too far, until it committed a suicide.
Will see if having it repaired won’t cost that much. If it is really the motherboard and will cost me a fortune, I might really have to say bye for good.
